No increased levels of toxic volcanic gases...
The Eyjafjallajokull volcano located on Iceland"s northern coast started erupting on April 14, spewing 3,000 tons of sulfur dioxide and 30,000 tons of hydrogen fluoride per day.
Scientists say fluorine compounds can threaten the health of livestock and also lead to problems with teeth and bones in humans if they are consumed in food. Volcanic ash is extremely dangerous for people with asthma.
"Rosgydromet (Russia"s meteorological service) has not observed above average concentration levels of these substances today," the service said.
However, it said the level was slightly higher in Russia"s Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad, in the northwestern city of Arkhangelsk, and also in Makhachkala, in the North Caucasus.
Russian meteorological stations have been put on alert to monitor the spread of volcanic gases, the service said.
