A number of media, in particular the newsru.com website, reported Tuesday that traffic police stopped several civilian vehicles on the Moscow Ring Road in the city"s northeast a few days ago and forced the drivers to block the 5-lane highway in order to stop an Audi with an allegedly armed driver that the police wanted to apprehend.
"A check into the incident that allegedly took place March 5 on the Moscow Ring Road is underway. Its results will be made public," Marina Vasilyeva said.
She confirmed that "a certain incident took place at the site" but added that she could not yet say whether police officers broke the law.
Newsru.com cited a driver, Stanislav Sutyagin, as saying the Audi rammed the cars blocking the highway and then police officers continued the pursuit. The news portal also posted a video address by Sutyagin, born in 1981, but carried no pictures or video from the alleged crash scene.
