MOSCOW, January 9 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian government is to allocate 400 million rubles ($16 million) for research into the development of an HIV vaccine, the consumer rights watchdog said on Wednesday. The funding is part of international efforts agreed upon at the G8 summit in St. Petersburg in July 2006. Rospotrebnadzor said the government had signed the order in late 2007 and would allot a total of a billion rubles ($41 million) for research, HIV monitoring and other operations in the field in 2008-2010.

MOSCOW, July 21 (RIA Novosti) - Two astronauts...

"Spacewalkers Dave Wolf and Tom Marshburn wrapped up a six hour, 53 minute spacewalk at 6:20 p.m. EDT [10:20 GMT] on Monday," NASA said, adding that the astronauts completed most of their planned tasks.

It is the 202nd spacewalk carried out by U.S. astronauts since members of the Apollo 11 mission, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped down from the lunar lander onto the Moon"s Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969.

It is also the 215th American spacewalk in history.

The Endeavour space shuttle, carrying its 7-member crew, docked with the International Space Station on July 17.

The shuttle"s mission is primarily aimed at completing the assembly of Japan"s Kibo laboratory module, and includes five spacewalks.
