Polish presidential TU-154 aircraft carrying a top-level delegation, including the country"s president, hit the top of trees as it attempted to land at an airport in western Russia near the city of Smolensk in thick fog on Saturday morning. All 96 people on board were killed in the crash.
"There is still no exact date for the funeral, but we believe it will be on Saturday [April 17]," Deputy Chief of the Chancellery of the President of Poland Jacek Sasin said.
He added that the plane with late Maria Kaczynski is expected to land at a Warsaw airport at 10:00 a.m. local time (8:00 a.m. GMT).
Last Saturday the Polish leader and other top government officials were en route to a ceremony in Katyn to pay tribute to some 20,000 Polish officers killed by Soviet secret police during World War Two.
A total of 87 dead bodies have so far been recovered by Russian rescuers at the crash site. They are being sent to Moscow for identification procedures.
